Pete Reixach as the celebration of his having spent 20 years at Port Freeport rapidly approaches. Freeport Tribute To A.J. Pete Reixach 14 July 2005 2005 Ron Paul 85:2 As American Association of Port Authorities President Kurt J. Nagle said recently, “Pete deserves congratulations not only for reaching the remarkable milestone of 20 years at the Port, but also for the dramatic growth Port Freeport has achieved during his tenure. In an industry where the average tenure for a port director is less than 7 years, Pete’s 20 years at Port Freeport are a tribute to his effectiveness in directing the Port and to the Port’s substantial economic impacts to the region. He is both well-respected and recognized as an industry leader by his colleagues.” Freeport Tribute To A.J. Pete Reixach 14 July 2005 2005 Ron Paul 85:4 Mr. Speaker, Port Freeport now ranks 12th among all U.S. ports in international cargo. The Port has added new berths and continues to grow. A cool storage facility has been built and is set for expansion. The harbor channel was deepened to 45 feet with efforts now moving forward in this Congress toward approval of a 60-foot depth, a project I have been pleased to support. Public dock activity at the Port has burgeoned; so, too, has that at berths of such firms as Teppco/Seaway, ConocoPhillips and The Dow Chemical Co. This has all happened during Reixach’s time as Executive Director of the Port. Freeport Tribute To A.J. Pete Reixach 14 July 2005 2005 Ron Paul 85:5 While enrolled at the University of New Orleans Mr. Reixach began working as a clerk in the New Orleans office of Greek-owned Hellenic Lines Ltd. By the time Hellenic ceased operations in 1983, Reixach had worked his way up to a vice presidency in the line’s Houston office. Immediately prior to coming to Port Freeport, he was general manager in the Houston office of Dutch shipping company F.A. Voight Inc. Freeport Tribute To A.J. Pete Reixach 14 July 2005 2005 Ron Paul 85:6 Reixach initially was hired to serve as assistant general manager at Freeport. Two years later, Reixach was promoted to the new position of executive director, the job he still holds. Freeport Tribute To A.J. Pete Reixach 14 July 2005 2005 Ron Paul 85:7 Mr. Speaker, Pete Reixach, 62, lives in Lake Jackson with his wife, Susie. I wish the two of them much happiness and continued success as Pete approaches 20 years with Port Freeport. Freeport CONGRATULATIONS TO BASF FREEPORT ON THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY 10 July 2008 2008 Ron Paul 44:1 Mr. PAUL. Madam Speaker, 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the BASF Corporation’s Freeport, Texas facility. Freeport is located in Brazoria County in my congressional district. I am pleased to take this opportunity to congratulate the management and employees of BASF Freeport on 50 great years, and thank the people of BASF Freeport for their contributions to Freeport’s economy. Freeport CONGRATULATIONS TO BASF FREEPORT ON THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY 10 July 2008 2008 Ron Paul 44:2 The story of the BASF Freeport began when the owners of BASF Overzee N.V., a subsidiary of Badische Anilin-& Soda Fabrik A. G. (BASF), Ludwigshafen, Germany, and the Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Michigan, agreed to form Dow Badische Chemical Company. Dow Badische was endowed with the chemical process technology of the European parent as well as the managerial and marketing knowledge of their U.S. parent. Freeport CONGRATULATIONS TO BASF FREEPORT ON THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY 10 July 2008 2008 Ron Paul 44:3 The new company chose a site adjacent to Dow Chemical’s Texas Division of Freeport, Texas for its initial production. In December of 1959 the plant began producing Acrylic Acid and Acrylic Esters. In 1960 and 1961 the plants added production units for butanol and caprolactam. Freeport CONGRATULATIONS TO BASF FREEPORT ON THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY 10 July 2008 2008 Ron Paul 44:4 Through the years, the BASF facility experienced tremendous increases in its capacity as well as in the number of production plants and employees that comprise the BASF Freeport workforce. For example, in 1967 BASF built a continuous butyl acrylate plant, while a new caprolactam complex was completed in 1968; and a new oxo alcohol facility was completed in 1970, adding 2-Ethylhexanol to the product line. Freeport CONGRATULATIONS TO BASF FREEPORT ON THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY 10 July 2008 2008 Ron Paul 44:5 BASF acquired 100 percent ownership of Dow Badische in 1978. Soon after the change in ownership took place, two new chemical plants were constructed in Freeport, one an acrylic acid facility and the other a neopentyl glycol facility. Further significant expansions have included two acrylic monomers plants, an expansion to the polycaprolactam unit and most recently a new superabsorbent polymer plant. Freeport CONGRATULATIONS TO BASF FREEPORT ON THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY 10 July 2008 2008 Ron Paul 44:7 BASF Freeport’s success is due to the commitment, hard work and innovative ability of its employees. I am certain that these same attributes will ensure a continued healthy growth for the company, which will, in turn, continue to benefit all of Brazoria County. It is therefore my pleasure to congratulate BASF Freeport on their 50th anniversary. Freeport Earmark Declaration 19 November 2008 2008 Ron Paul 70:1 Mr. PAUL. Freeport Constituent service is most important function 01 June 1998 Texas Straight Talk 01 June 1998 verse 6 ... Cached Generally, casework involving constituents dealing with federal agencies is handled out of one of my three district offices, in Victoria (512-576-1231), Freeport (409-230-0000) or San Marcos (512-396-1400). The offices will accept collect calls. Freeport Praising the Texas Gulf Coast Response to Rita 26 September 2005 Texas Straight Talk 26 September 2005 verse 5 ... Cached The 14th district was fortunate to escape the worst of Rita. Brazoria county came through the storm mostly unscathed, with some wind damage and power outages. Surfside Beach and Freeport were worst hit, but coastal areas further south in Matagorda county thankfully suffered little or no damage. Freeport The Port Security Controversy 27 February 2006 Texas Straight Talk 27 February 2006 verse 8 ... Cached There also is an important states’ rights issue involved in this controversy. Why are Treasury department bureaucrats in Washington making decisions about port security? Most American ports are owned by U.S. states, cities, or local port authorities, not the federal government. Do Treasury department personnel 1500 miles away really know what’s best for the ports of Galveston or Freeport? Texas Straight Talk from 20 December 1996 to 23 June 2008 (573 editions) are included in this Concordance. Texas Straight Talk after 23 June 2008 is in blog form on Rep. Pauls Congressional website and is not included in this Concordance. Remember, not everything in the concordance is Ron Pauls words.
